Naughty monks is one of my favourite themes and today's example is Eadwine, of the famous 12th Century Eadwine Psalter.

Eadwine was it appears very well aware of his own talents and around this image of himself are the words:
"The prince of scribes am I; neither my praises nor my frame shall ever die. Cry out, O my letter, what kind of man I am"
Modesty it appears, was not a virtue Eadwine possessed. I now have the urge to have a photograph of myself on the front page of my thesis with a caption proclaiming its fabulousness.
